Zero Calorie Foods

So I'm only close to being two weeks post op and of course now so much more conscious of what food is comprised of.  What do you vets think about the idea of calorie free food?  I look at the carbs, sugars, and fats as well as protein.  How is it possible they will not affect your body in either a negative or positive way? Thanks for the input!!

I've always been suspicious and afraid of items that claim 0 calorie, sugar free, fat free, etc. To make those things resemble the food they are trying to replace, they need to make them with all kinds of weird ingredients. Usually those ingredients are things that our bodies are not designed to break down and utilize. Some of those items have been proven to get stored in our bodies, and sometimes to have a more negative reaction than the real food. One way to look at that nutrition lable is to check the ingredients, and if there is something you can't identify or pronounce, or if there are ingredients that wouldn't be found in a normal kitchen, put it down.
My personal choice is to not use fake food if it can be avoided. If I'm looking for a treat, I'm more apt to use spices like cinnamon and real vanilla flavoring.

Best to you,
Janet
