I had surgery monday the 13th and today they are just about gone. I would cringe of the thought of having to drink water. It took me about 5-6 days. I mean i still cant take a big swiggle but its no where like it was in the beginning. Warm tea helped me a lot  Good Luck

And you two still got your liquids in? This is hard.

Also...try different temps...sometimes cold, warm or room temp goes down better.

That only lasted a few days for me. I'm a bit over 2 weeks post op and now I can actually take pretty big swallows one at a time. I can't gulp a bunch at a time. But two decent swallows in a row seems to be okay. More that than gets uncomfortable but doesn't hurt, just pressure now. It makes it hard to get in enough fluids. In between meals, I have to set an alarm on my phone to ring every 5 minutes to remind me to take 2 more swallows. Otherwise, I don't make any progress on getting in water.

Not to scare you, but it took quite a while for me, probably like 3-4 weeks before I could comfortably drink. What helped me was switching to zero calorie sports drinks v. water. Not sure why, but I still get more in that way.

This may sound wierd, but I found it easier to drink while laying on my right side, or even tilting to the right a bit. Might be worth a try at least...
