Didn't plan well enough...but didn't cheat either!

Just wrapped up the baby shower I had from my friend.  I was gone from home much longer than I realized I would be and I didn't take appropriate snacks / meals with me!  But I didn't cheat either!  I resisted the cake and all the other goodies!  Wasn't even tempted!  But I did go 7 hours without eating...very bad, I know!

So now, I'm home and realizing that I'm so far behind on protein that my only choice is to drink a shake!

How bad is it that I'll have had a shake for breakfast and dinner and about 1.5 ounces of meat for lunch?   I know a lot of people talk about how important it is to get protein from food.  Is there a big difference in how my body uses the two types of protein?

Its fine - don't stress about one day. Just drink the shake, and move on :)

I'd rather skip a meal then to eat the sugar - I just dont always have that will power :-p   Kudos to you!

Some people are so hardcore here that they need to get in their 80 grams of protein. If you reach your protein goals 95% of the time, it's fine to be a little low once in a great while IMHO. Drinking the protein shakes will definitely help. In fact, I'm low today so I will be drinking a shake right now!
Mint cookie here I come!! Or Tropical Paradise w/sf torani orange syrup? Decisions, decisions!!!

Thanks Jenn!  To be honest, I'm struggling to get enough protein since I've been back to work!  I'm lucky to barely hit 60 most days and some days I'm just in the 50's.  I try to do just one shake a day and then get the rest with food...but it's not working so well.  I just tried the Premier shakes for the first time yesterday so I think that's really going to help!  I seem to tolerate them much better!  I may just have to have one for breakfast and another for a snack in the evenings when I'm low!

5 months out and I have to have at least one shake a day.  I just know that will probably always be the case for me.  My nut has told me that if that is the way it is to be, so be it.  They prefer that we do things a certain way - but she has said that as long as they get done and the results are healthy, it is all good.  I will actually be having two shakes today just from running around, swimming, napping, etc.  There is not enough time in the day - and I HAVE to get to bed early tonight.

Good job not veering off plan.  I carry peanut butter, beef jerky, and almonds in my purse for emergencies:). You're doing great!!!
