Sleeve of steel OR so I thought!!

I am just past 8 months and all has been going pretty smoothly.  I do track everything I eat but everything I've tried has gone down really well.  I have had steak (not much), lobster tail, shrimp, pork chops,  pulled pork, ribs (well a rib!!) chicken (many varieties), scallops, sushi, pasta and rice (not much!!) salad, tuna and other fish, veggies and on and on.  Haven't had pop or popcorn, candy etc.  But, I was pretty sure I could eat anything -- in small amounts.......until dinner today.  I realized I had not had ground beef SO I bought a pkg of beef made into sliders.  I calculated that each one would be about 2.5-3 oz cooked.  I cut a slice of onion, made a small salad and cooked all the sliders figuring I would eat one and freeze the others.  WELL don't know why, but I ate about 2 bites and couldn't eat anymore of it!!! Could eat some salad.....BUT no more burger...yuck!!!   And now the thought of it makes me gag..............and I have had dense protein and have NEVER reacted like this.  Yikes!!!  So, luckily I have 4 dogs because they shared 5 1/2 sliders and THEY were VERY happy.

Ground beef in burger form can be VERY dry and very hard to digest -especially the lean varieties.  I handle well as taco's, other stuff, but the burgers can be very dry.  You can mix in some grated onion for moisture before you cook - or just avoid it.

Thanks....right now my choice would be to avoid it.

Hold the onions, they can give your dogs hemolytic anemia.  Sorry the burgers didn't work for you.

I have heard of chopping mushrooms finely and adding to the ground beef to add moisture. Haven't tried it yet, but I loved the idea.

There was a brand of bison burgers I can remember and they used ground up cherries for moisture - non-sweet cherries.

That's interesting. I'm only 2.5 months out, but I notice there are times when I have no issue with a certain protein on any given day, and then when I try it another time I have a two-bite experience like you did. It seems like my restriction varies from time to time. Perhaps that was the case with you. Better luck next time...if there will be a next time for you and the sliders!

Right now sliders and I are not on speaking terms...LOL.  It was SO weird.  I didn't give the dogs the onions.....but thanks for the reminder.
