What types of medications are we allowed to take? What medications have you taken for your usual head cold and not had any complications? Antibiotics?

I would call your surgeons office and talk to the nurse. They will be able to tell you what they want.

Mine says take everything I had been on before surgery. If I need to cut something I can talk to the pharmacist to be sure that it is ok to cut. Some should not be. If I can swallow it I can take it. Syrups are ok, also. No NSAIDs of course. I cannot swallow a calcium or vitamin so I have to go to chewables. My vicodin for my back is another that I can't swallow so I have been using liquid. Yuck! I have to be hurting in the extreme!

The most important thing is to find out what your surgeon wants. Some are vastly different, and they should be your source for all things medical. My surgeon once joked that "you are mine now, from your nose to your pelvis. Anything in between you call me". It is a valid point to remember.
