TMI question

How long after surgery did u have a bowel movement. I am day three post op and still not had one.

It was 3 days out for me. . . .

On day 2  for me and it was almost non-stop liquid bm for the next 36 hrs. I think that may have been because along with laxative preop, my surgeon has you take 12 neomycin tablets spread out over the day before surgery. All the normal bacteria was cleared out of my gut.

Day two for me...followed by two or three days of cement like BMs and then I wnt and bought an arsenal of stool softeners, fiber gummies, smooth move tea, etc and magically, before I took any of that, my BMs normalized and have been normal every single day since. Needless to say my arsenal is in the pantry, watching and waiting to step in if needed!

I am gonna have my mom pick up some laxative and if I done have one today take it tomorrow

Try colace or a glycerine suppository or some stool softener rather than going full on with a laxitive. They can be pretty rough on the healing tummy. And addictive...

You may hate to hear this, but it was over a week for me.  I tried a handful of things, too.  Eventually, after drinking a little pear juice, I was able to go.

if you have been on liquid diet and then a bowel prep there is not much in there , plus pain meds slow your intestines down so 3-4 days is not unusable  if your concerned  call you doctors office
