Did anyone have extreme dry mouth for days...

after surgery? I've been experiencing extreme dryness in my mouth and throat and have had some coughing. I am constantly trying to do ice chips. Did anyone else experience this and how long before it goes away?

Mine was like that an stayed like that until they let me have some liquid. About 2 days after it got better. Just keep doing best you can with ice chips.

Thanks for the reply. Glad to know I'm not the only one experiencing it.

Yes I had it I would drink small dips as much as I could. It lasted a few days. I think it's from the anesthesia. I'm 4 weeks out and its ok now. Hang in there

I did for a couple of days. I think you're a bit dehydrated from not being allowed to drink anything from midnight on before surgery. It's better now though.

The endotracheal tube used to secure your airway during surgery can cause a sore throat for a few days.  I did my graduate research on reducing post op sore throats.  Many different techniques have been tried but there is nothing that makes a difference and who gets a sore throat is not predictable.
