Hi, I'm 4 days post op. Has anyone had a leak? If so how did you know? My doc didn't do a leak test and I'm just wondering?

Did you ask if the Dr. did a leak test? My surgeon did it while I was still knocked out, so maybe your surgeon does the same thing.

I was told that signs of a problem are fever, pain, vomiting, things like that. Those are all warning signs and you should go straight  to the ER.

Good luck!

My surgeon did the leak test while I was out, right after surgery.

If I'm not mistaken, if you are able to pass gas, you don't have a leak.  Also, as someone said, fever and abdominal pain are  other signs.

Some surgeons don't do them..... they actually aren't really necessary...... they can cause bleeding and unnecessary stress to the fresh staple line. In most cases if you have a leak.... it just can't be fixed right than.... it's a long process......

I just got home from a 5 day stay in the hospital from a leak.  You will know, high fever, chills, pain in chest, can't keep food down.... NOT FUN
