Prom dress shopping... lol!
This year, a friend of mine is in charge of the junior class at the school where I teach. She has told me that there will be a "best dressed faculty" contest, and she is going to encourage the faculty to be as dressed up as the students. Don't get me wrong, I would never be caught dead wearing some of those prom dresses... I've seen bikinis that cover more than some of those dresses do... BUT it would be fun to dress up and get my husband to take me to prom LOL.
Then I realized my parents still have my old dress that I wore to homecoming in 9th grade, when I weighed about 5-8 pounds less than I do now, but I was also less fit then than I am now and didn't have any loose skin weighing me down... so I'm probably about the same size now as I was when I wore that dress! It's super elegant and not outdated at all, from what I remember.
I'll have to come back and post a pic once I have one, probably next weekend will be the first chance I'll have to see my parents and try it on. I just got a little giddy when I realized what a huge accomplishment it would be to be able to wear a dress from the time when I was at my healthiest. Cross your fingers for me!
Don't know what year you went to prom (homecoming, whatever), but I think one of my dresses, which I loved at the time, was made of dotted Swiss (which, if you're young, you will have never heard of). And it is NOT something you could wear around young people unless it was a retro costume party! Enjoy wearing your dress again--what a victory!
