Water tracking
How does everyone track their fluid intake? I have found a few programs on the app store for iphone, but they all want you to track by cups or glasses of water. I think it would be much more useful for me to track by ounces, in increments as small as one ounce. Is there a program out there like this? Do people just keep track in their heads, or on paper with marks? What seems to work well for you?
I add it to my food diary on MFP. For plain water (which is mostly what I drink) I just add whatever ounces of Deer Park water (easy for me to find on my most-used list -- lol). If I have tea or iced tea, I'll enter the Deer Park and whatever else I add (teabag, Crystal Light, whatever). That way I can keep precise control over logging what I'm drinking, and it's all in the same place where I log every bite or sip I take.
If I'm away from the PC, I'll text myself an email on my dumbphone (no smartphone) to remind myself to log whatever I ate or drank while I was out.
Works for me. :)
Well, MFP does have that "Water Consumption" thingy at the bottom of the diary page, but frankly that just annoys me and doesn't work as well as just logging in the water and such. Just my opinion.
Hey, this thing is big, and it can be overwhelming. Don't beat yourself up. It's GOOD to ask questions and get suggestions. It's certainly gotten me to where I am today. :)
This is going to sound cheesy but when I was still measuring by the oz. My hubs set me up on almost an abacus system. We used 8 red solo cups and after every ounce we moved a cup from one stack to the next. When the stack was empty I recorded 1 cup and started over again. I began to feel like a bar fly slamming down shots but it worked for me.
Good Luck on finding a system that works for you!
I'm only 5 weeks out, but I wait the 30 mins after breakfast....and get drinking my water - usually ending up having somewhere between 2-5 cups...depends where I am and what I'm doing. I have a thermos that holds exactly 2 cups of water.....then 30 mins after I've had a good amount of water...I snack or it might even be time for lunch by then.....and I repeat this process all day and evening....usually ending up with having between 8-10 cups of water a day by the end of the day.
Good luck!
