Carbs & Protein -> What do you shoot for?
You can very easily live on 800 calories...I agree that 1200 at this point sounds like a lot. My NUT said I can shoot for 1000 most days too but I find that I don't need to go that high! I aim for 40-50 carbs per day and at least 80 grams of protein. Doesn't always happen but I sure do try!

You do you, and I'll do me
I am 5 months out and just within the last few days I have found I needed to bump calories up from 600 to 800. The reason I did this is because I am able to eat slightly more volume. Like 6 oz greek yogurt, 1 cup of soup, 2.5 to 3 oz dense protein. I am getting 80-100 gms protein, less than 30 gms carbs per day. Since I increased my calorie goal on MFP, I have stayed right around 750 to 800 calories. Right now, I am still losing at the same rate I was previous to making this change.
You are abosolutely right, if you argue that you can't do it, you really can't do it. Argue for your limititations and they become yours.
If you agree with your NUT that this is the best program for you and you are following his/her advice, I would go back and ask for more details. This would not have gotten me to goal, but maybe it will work for you. I have seen it work for some. Good luck to you either way.
I will be 12 weeks this Friday. I eat under 625 calories a day (half are protein shakes), aim for 80-100 grams of protein (never a problem), less then 40 carbs (usually under 30).
With the portion sizes that I was given, I am able to maintain these goals everyday. It is my understanding that the 1000-1200 calorie range is for when I am in maintenance but every surgeon/nutritionist is different.
My surgeon's protein goal is 60 grams but she said her most successful patients aim for 80 grams.
