when will my stomach feel...normal?
I am 3 weeks post op - when I eat my pureed, soft foods, I feel like it just sits there, slowly emptying out but paralyzed more than anything. Prior to vsg, I felt like my stomach was churning at the food that was in there. It doesnt seem to do anything now. Is this normal? will my stomach every go back to a normal (albeit restricted) type of functionality or is this the way its going to be forever? Advice from the vets would be appreciated.
My tummy was tender for months afterwards. I had my VSG in May 2011. I couldn't eat most fruit all summer (too acidic). I couldn't drink coffee without milk for the first six months or so. I couldn't eat spicy foods till probably a year out.
But now, I eat just about anything. The only issue I still have is a burp more than I used to. I still don't tolerate greasy foods well either but that's good as far as I'm concerned.

I am almost two months out and it still feels like everything that I eat just sits there. I sometimes feel like the food is still sitting there 8- 10 hours later. I hate the feeling that I have just eaten an elephant. I often must throw up to feel comfortable.
Good luck hope you get past this quickly.
One thing that may have helped me (or maybe my stomach just healed more, who knows?) is that I discovered that I should have been taking the uridal (sp? gallstone preventative pill) with food. Once I made that change (my NUT said I could take a small sip of water with a meal to take the pill), my stomach felt much better. Also, I decreased my portions a bit. My NUT suggested eating 4 smaller meals so that I could still get in all the protein.
This might not make a difference for you, but I thought I'd throw it out there.
I don't know how to answer this because I felt like my stomach felt no different than it did before surgery. It got full faster and now I can get the foamies. But I don't feel food in there any differently than I felt it before.
