I have been cleared (at 4 weeks post op) and am struggling with it since I am so exhausted all the time. When I do go, I feel fine that day but the next day I am toast and literally cannot do anything else. Anyone else go through this? My doctor keeps pushing me to do more, and I am feeling horrible because I cant.

I was cleared at 2 weeks. I felt like I turned a corner at 2 weeks. Are you getting proper amount fluids and protein? Are you taking vitamins as instructed? Sorry to hear you are still puny. You should be feeling better.

I need to clarify, I do walk every morning, close to 30 minutes, however, by exercise I am talking about the gym. :)

I have been walking the entire time. The majority of the time on the treadmill. The Dr told me at 6 weeks I can start introducing light weights and ease myself into more. I definitely feel it the next day after the treadmill but I find I have less energy to go if I skip a day.

Listen to your body.  I will readily admit that for the first few months, I was a weekend only girl.

As a non-shake drinker, my first few months were barely 400 calories a day.  I work long hours and frankly, couldn't function on a 0 calories a day balance if I had been exercising every day.  I was just making it through the day, coming home and going to bed.  It started balancing out at about 3 months when my calories were up to 500-600 range.

So listen to your body.  This is a marathon journey, not a sprint.

I wasn't cleared until I could get in my protein requirements.  I felt some guilt not being able to keep up with others who were talking about how good they felt exercising, but we are all different.  Your body will tell you when you will be ready.  Maybe do a little less and see how you feel the next day.  When I started, I was just happy walking down my street.
