My surgery is next week. I could use some suggestions. I know I can have clear broth and this like that.  What did you do for protein?

I took my unflavored protein and added it to my crystal light. Also I added it to my chicken broth. Make sure you mix it with room temp water before adding the hot broth or it will clump.

Currently I'm drinking broth, and a lot of MIO flavored water.  I've also been drinking peppermint tea as well.  Hydration is more important than protein that first week, and it's hard to get all tha****er and broth in.  I'm just working to get at least 1 quart of water in today.

Dont forget sugar free popcicles and sf jello. Be sure and have sugar free lifesavers on hand...it helps tremendously w the dry mouth from surgery and meds

I just ordered enough Isopure to last me for the week I'm going to be on clear liquids.  I figure if I can get two of them down me a day, I'll be getting in plenty of protein and good fluids at the same time.  I also plan on broth, diet jello and lots of water.

O, BTW, Isopure doesn't taste great, but if you put it in a covered cup with a straw, ice cold, and drink it down, it's not too bad.  Necessary medicine for after the surgery is the way I'm looking at it.

I finally ordered unjury chcken protein. It was the easiest thing I've gotten down.  I'm on full liquids, so I'm doing Greek yogurt and premier protein too.   And the trusted crystal light.

this is so much easier on fluids than preop, and still being around cooking and smells, and people talking about food.  I am enjoying the smells and conversations without wanting any of it.  Just hope it doesn't change!

Good luck to you!

Unjury chicken broth was & is still my saving grace. 27 grams of protein per 8 ounce cup of water. Measure out 8 ounces pop it into a bowl warm for 1 minute use a wisk as you add a scoop & put it in a cup & drink away.
