Greetings from everyone's favorite forum lurker. Hehe!

VSG is the best thing I've done for myself. Today is my 9 month surgiversary. I just hit the 100 lbs lost since day of surgery. Combine that with the 18 lbs I lost pre-op and I'm down a total of 118. I feel fantastic. Here's a list of things that wouldn't have happened pre-sleeve:

  • I'm dating now (I'm thankful even for the bad dating experiences because before I wasn't even in the game.)
  • Clothes actually fit, so shopping isn't the horrible experience it used to be.
  • I fit comfortably in seats/booths at restaurants, airplanes, movie theaters, auditoriums, etc. Yay!
  • I can borrow jackets from friends/family and don't worry if it's going to fit. (Most of my friends/family are fit/average sized.)
  • Off all prescription medications but one. I was taking a lot of Rxs pre-sleeve.
  • Mental health and mood are much improved. I enjoy life now. The good and the bad. (Note: I also think that exercise contributes to improved mood. Really, can't say enough about how important it is to get those happy endorphins going throughout your body!)
  • I ran my first 5K on Friday in 34:44. Not too shabby!
  • For a charity event, I climbed 50 flights of stairs in 12:10.7 It was an awesome experience!
  • I absolutely love feeling physically fit and strong! I workout 5-6 days a week because I want to (well, at least most days...hehe!)
  • I am a better friend, employee, daughter, and significant other because I am a happier and more whole person now.

I could go on and on, but I'll stop the list here.

To everyone pre-op, I wish you the best on your journey. It's not easy and there are some "what have I done" days, but just follow the plan and keep yourself in check. Yes, you'll fall of the wagon from time to time, but the key is to do things right the majority of the time and you will see results. The sleeve is your tool, so use it!

Wow....I love reading all of your new accomplishments and freedoms.

I was like "yay! yay! yay!" as I was cruising your list til I got to the 50 FLIGHTS OF STAIRS!!! What is it about stairs...that many stairs that just about terrifies me? They had a challenge on last nights AMAZING RACE that involved a huge number of stairs that the contestants went up and down and  up and down and I thought I can never do that. I am much impressed by your 50 flights of stairs experience.... that is beyond awesome.
