There are 2 garbage cans at my house...
So I thought hard boiled eggs would be tasty, and I boiled a dozen of them. I did't get around to using them as promptly as I thought I would. " Oh, no! The waste!", I thought, and began to devise ways of fixing the things so they would be easily eaten and in a larger portion- you know, mayonnaise and sauces that make food slip down. I figured "Eggs- protein-it's all good. More will be better." It was really bothering me that I may have wasted some eggs that were going to spoil in the frig. I had to do something so I could eat them up. Then I remembered something a very wise person told me in OA. She simply said, "You have a garbage can in your kitchen, don't you? Use it. Otherwise, you ARE the garbage can. Either way, the excess food is going to waste. Kitchen can- the food goes to waste. You as the can- the food goes to your ass and is more than a waste. Your choice." The eggs went into the kitchen can. I'm going to try not to be a garbage can anymore.

Yep, pets are a great weight loss aid! I now tell myself that if I don't leave a little bit of food on my dinner plate, the poor hungry starving dog** will waste away and collapse on the floor.
** Said dog also looks at me with big brown sad eyes to heighten the impact. Never mind that the dog weighs 140 lbs.
