Surgery Postponed!

It's only postponed 3 days, but I was so excited and counting the days left of this pre-op diet.  Adding 3 more days makes me very sad!

I have atrial fibrillation and take a blood thinner.  My paperwork said to discontinue those 5 days pre-op, but at my pre-op appointment yesterday, I was told that the blood thinner I take requires 10 off days pre-surgery.  The doctor said I would probably be okay to go ahead with surgery on the 25th, but since he had an opening on the 28th we made the decision to postpone.  The final decision was mine, but that doesn't keep me from pouting about it!

I'm so looking forward to not being hungry........................

Sorry you had to postpone, but it sounds like it's the best thing to do for your health. Hang in there!

Sorry for the extra couple days of hunger - but glad that you will be 100% sure that it's safe rather than probably ok!

I feel sure it was the right choice, but what really bothers me is that I really didn't want to take a blood thinner anyway, and my PCP and cardiologist had made me feel that if I skipped a dose I would have a blood clot leading to a stroke!  So I'm really uncomfortable being off of it for 10 days, even though I don't like taking it!

I know it probably won't happen, but I keep hoping the sleeve will cure my AFib!  I asked the doctors and they said no, but I'm still hoping for a miracle--I was only diagnosed with it last December, after I started the monthly doctor visits for surgery approval.  My PCP was very thorough and sent me to a cardiologist who found this problem, along with mitral valve regurgitation.  The good thing was that all the doctors I saw during the process were very much in favor of WLS.
