My postop saving grace while on liquids: French Onion Soup

VSG on 06/12/13

I was growing SO WEARY of my clear liquids until it dawned on me last week that French Onion soup is clear as long as it's strained. I get it without cheese and bread and with as much broth as possible. Then I strain the onions to the side, as well.  I realize it has more calories than plain beef broth, but I am balancing it out with other options throughout the day. Let me tell you, it has been enough to keep me going. I have found it in the freezer section at Trader Joes and Kroger. It doesn't look hard to make, either: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/tyler-florence/french-oni on-soup-recipe2/index.html

bon appetit...

Hi,

I am new here and I havent had my surgery yet.  I told my husband the other day that he would be making lots of French Onion Soup for me.  I am glad that it is helping you through the clear liquids.

I'm planning on doing this myself!  Except I'm going to make mine in the crockpot because caramelizing the onions in a slow cooker = heavenly taste.  Have you mixed it with plain protein powder at all or do you just sip the broth?

OMG I love you. Yes. That sounds great. I'm BUSTING out the crockpot tonight.
