Losing Motivation with Protein...

I am only 8 days post-op and I am having the most difficult time getting my protein. I cannot find any drinks, other than Isopure (only one flavor) that I can tolerate/stomach. Is getting the 60-80g really that important in the first weeks? I go onto puree Tuesday...

Did you try unflavored protein powder in Chicken broth?  that was all I could tolerate after surgery.  I also put unflavored protein powder in jello (put two scoops of protein powder in the cold water, and dissolve jello in the hot, and then mix the two.)  Later, I also put protein powder in sugar-free fat-free pudding.

Hang in there.  It is really hard at first.  It will get better every day.

Getting fluids to prevent dehydration is most important post-op.  Then you can factor in protein...maybe try a few different brands. Some companies offer individual servings so you can taste them. Good luck...maybe your surgeon has some samples they can share with you.

Protein is extremely important for your recovery as liquids are for your hydration. Check out Nashuanutrition.com, they sell single samples of different protein flavors. Maybe check that out to see if there are any you like. Unjury chicken soup was my favorite, I still drink it.

Good luck

The protein will help your body heal.  This is a very short time - you can do this!

My clear liquid diet the first two weeks featured skim milk as the primary protein. It has 1 gram/oz, and my target was 32g/day at that point. Check with your doc but 60-80 grams is a longer term goal.

Hang in there!
