Waiting game begins
Finished my 6 month requirement for my insurance. Had Phsyic eval, one on one and group meeting with Dietician. Also have my two week Pre-op diet plan. Doctor is submitting paperwork to my insurance company today (Blue Cross Blue Shield). Please pray that this will get approved and quickly. I am so ready to start my new life!
I have blue cross blue shield. I called them every day and it took a week exactly but they even denied me one day because the dr office didn't submit all my paperwork but when they resubmitted it it was approved the next day. I would recommend just calling once a day if you want it approved fast and to make sure they have everything. If I didn't call it could have taken weeks to get denied then resubmitting and getting approved could have taken a month. But my surgeon is going out of town in September for 2 months so I needed it done in August. Good luck and god bless for speedy recovery and fast weight loss.
I had BCBS of Mass, and they approved it in less than a week. I was nervous because my surgery was scheduled for about 10 days after the insurance paperwork was submitted. My Doctor's office wasn't worried, and they do this a lot - which indicates that BCBS is usually pretty fast. I called a few times, but not daily. The approval letter came in the mail about 10 days after surgery. (smile).
Best of luck with the "waiting phase." Soon it will be just a memory.

Aetna took 2 weeks to approve me. Those were the longest 2 weeks of my life!! I hope you get approved soon.
I called because my doctors office wouldn't even schedule the surgery until they got pre approval. THEN the surgery is a month after approval. So with my surgeon going out of town in September it could have had to wait if I had gotten denied and then had to re assess. I'm glad I did call because it was like literally one day they received the medical paper work, the next day they processed it, the next day they denied it, the next day they received the updated paper work and the next day they approved it. So five business days isn't bad. But had I not called it could take a week to process and snail mail my denial, then a week to reprocess it.... and I just didn't want to wait until October or November to get this thing going. But Blue Cross Blue Shield was AWSOME!! The lady I spoke to took my case and became my liason and would call me back as well. SO THANKFUL for their insurance. Good luck. I'm sure if there is not hitch you'll hear back soon.
Because pre op apts were usually 2 weeks out and then surgery is 2 weeks after that but 3 weeks n ill be under the knife! Yay!!! And some doctors would schedule before pre approval but they don't want to bother til they know for sure if insurance will pay. Which my insurance is great so of course they will but its still silly if u ask me.
