Hi,

I am Megan from PA.  I am soon to be 41, married for 10 years and have a beautiful 11 year old son.  I am going into the 4th month of pre-op for gastric sleeve surgery.  My starting weight was 337.  After losing 15 lb. the first month, I was very disappointed with my meager two pound weight loss this past month.  As long as the scale is going in the right direction, I guess I'm doing ok.  The doctor said I am doing everything right and shouldn't be discouraged.

I am looking forward to getting to know you guys and your stories and hopefully share some of my own.

Welcome Megan!!  You lost 15 pounds the 1st month and 2 pounds this month.  That's already 17 pounds down.  Your scale is definitely going in the right direction.   If you are sticking to your diet you will see the weight continue to decrease. Don't be disappointed by what you did not accomplish.  Be excited by what you have already accomplished.

welcome to the forum,

I hope you will find it as informative and supportive as I have.  17 pounds down is a good start, and we all know about stalls.  If you keep following your plan, the weight will come off.  Keep the faith.

best wishes,

Carol

Hi Megan,

My stats are about the same as yours.  I am 39 and my starting weight was 334.  I have been going to the nutritionist in the bariatric program since May, in 2 months I have lost 24 lbs (and I will admit I have not been completely faithful-but feel I am making necessary changes for after surgery-and it is a big change from how I was eating).  I was hoping it would be faster too.  My surgery is schedule for August 28th, I was the 21st, but they called yesterday and had to move it.  I am so bummed, but it's only a week so it could be worse.  I am also a type 2 diabetic and have had high blood pressure for years-not sure if that will ever change even with the weight loss because it runs in my family, but I am hoping it will.  When are you having your surgery?

Thank you all! I live in PA near Scranton. Inam doing my pre-op stuff at Geisinger in Wilkes-Barre and having the surgery at Geisinger in Danville. The hospital is about 2 hours away from home.

I have not been below 300 lb in probably 15 years so this is pretty exciting. I can see little changes...looser clothes, loose rings. I just bought a shirt at Target and even though its the biggest size they have, it fits and a couple months ago it wouldn't.

Its pretty funny to admit but my dog really keeps me motivated. When I get home from work, he is so excited to go for a walk, I don't have the heart not to take him! I have an old railroad bed that runs along our property. Its 3/4 miles in and then back. We are getting faster at it and can now do it in about 35 minutes.

I don't know about all of you but there is so much failure and trauma associated with dieting that it feels good to finally be committed to this.
