Looking for full day menu ideas for 800 calories.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated! Having a hard time staying around 800 calories a day. Usually I'm at 1200 calories and that's way too much for 8 months out. That explains why I'm only losing ounces! I realize one mistake is having two to three protein bars a day at 200 calories a pop. Usually one for breakfast, lunch and snack. It's seems like its the only way to get in a lot of protein...20 grams each. Thanks in advance for your responses!

I am only three months out, and I stick to meals that are basically meat and veggies.  The calories are usually around 800.

So I might have a day of

B: 3 oz roast chicken, a small serving of pan fried cabbage

L:  3 oz chicken salad, or chicken in spicy peanut sauce or some other chicken prep.

D: 3 oz of salmon or sea scallops, plus green beans and mashed cauliflower

S:  chicken broth with protein powder

Some days I'll have Greek yogurt with a few berries and artificial sweetener for a meal or snack.  But its pretty much meat and low carb veggies three times a day.

You might also check out the posts "what are you eating today?  I get lots of ideas from what people post there.

Best of luck on your weight-loss journey.

I won't touch protein bars.  That being said, I routinely get over 100g of protein in per day by eating from the following food list:  Jimmy Dean turkey sausage links, egg whites, turkey pepperoni, chicken, canned chicken, sardines packed in water, catfish, deli turkey or ham (the 98% fat free type), Sargento Light string cheese sticks, Laughing Cow Light cheese wedges.  Other people eat tuna or beef, but I don't, so I'll let them speak to that.  :)

I easily get well under 800 calories per day by eating from the above list in measured quantities and then adding in some green vegetables or blueberries.  I am over eight months out now, btw, and I normally eat four meals per day, sometimes substituting a protein shake (made with unsweetened plain almond milk) for solid food as the need arises.

If you're on MFP or a similar tracking program you could plug some of these foods in and work up some meals.  Hope this helps.

Thank you for asking.  Still working to undereat my sleeve despite subtle returning impulses to eat more or eat off-plan. Those last 20-something pounds are crawling off.  All in all, I feel blessed.  People on here are great!

How are you doing?

I'm doing ok. Could be better. Slipping into some old habits as well. I'm down 71 pounds post op and 24 pre op. 95 all together... Feeling great but judging myself on what the scale says and I think that's what is messing my eating up. See I'm an all or nothing kind of girl , so when I see the scale didnt move when I'm eating great , I stress over it and tend to eat more, then get upset that it didnt move again and then eat more because I'm stressed. It's a vicious cycle I need to learn to stop! I still want to love 45 to 50 more.

Breakfast: Premier protein shake, 160 calories, 30 grams fat

S:  Fibergourmet crackers, 1 package, 70 calories, 4 g protein, 12 g fiber

L: Tuna fish on a bed of spinach- about 100 calories, don't feel like looking up the protein but at least 10 g

S:  Fresh strawberries, about 50 calories (Note: don't eat this if you are less than 6 weeks post op)

D: Baked fish or chicken, salad, cooked veggies- under 200 caloires 10-20 grams protein

S:  If needed... bowl of Fiber One cereal with flax milk (about 100 calories and loads of fiber) or another protein shake.

I have a large sleeve and the above was enough to feel plenty satisfied for the day.  Fish and chicken portion size was 4 ounces or so... maybe a bit more on the fish if I was really hungry that day.

Edit:  I am a big fan of protein bars.  Whenever I wanted to take a trip to the vending machine I would do a protein bar instead.  But 2 or 3 everyday is for sure overdoing it.  Use veggies and fruit instead- you will get far, far more volume for  a whole lot less calories.  A wedge of laughing cow cheese or hummus for dip is a favorite of mine.  Experiment with different sauces for flavor variation.  I am not a cook, but there are many sauces that you just open and add to meat and simmer for just a few minutes- really helps!  Try Trader Joes or your international food aisle for great options.
