My surgeon allows meat on pre-op diet...

I am allowed Kashi, cottage cheese, and three ounces of lean meat too. Wondering why the pre-op diets are so different, I save my 1/2 cup of fruit, allowed with cottage cheese and protein drinks, for between meal snacks! Gonna get this done! Tomorrow 12 more days. 12  Days of weight loss surgery Christmas!

Just my personal opinion, but I think pre-op diets are far more about mental preparation than physical. My surgeon has a pre-op diet, but I couldn't do it as I can't drink shakes of any kind. So I did a 1000 calorie a day diet which was just fine with him. So it was completely normal food, high protein focus. Only did two days of "fluid only" before the op so that there wasn't any food in my tummy.

So I think that surgeons adapt their own approach based on their own experience and opinions.

Must be surgeons preferences and how big he feels your liver is.  Mine was a one week diet 3 to 4 protein shakes and I could have grilled chicken for one meal.  Also lots of clear fluids.  The last 2 days were strictly liquid.  Glad that's all over with!

Your pre-op plan seem typical for what I know. The key was to keep carbs down for the liver shrinking and only eat that small amount of lean protein. Also, you're probably looking to be in 1000 calorie or less range.

our program does a customized 2 week diet of 1200 cal max, high protein, high fibre, Max 120g carbs.

cuts down on pre-op & post-op cheating.

My surgeon did too.  5 ounces lean meat plus 2 cups non starchy veggies, plus 3-5 protein shakes/bars a day to equal no more than 1200 calories, 120 gm carbs.  I was not allowed any fruit.

My diet was high protein low carb. I could not eat more than 30 grams of carbs each day and my goal was 70 grams of protein. I lost 10 lbs prior to surgery using it.

Sounds like Atkins.  I would've went to town on that diet.  I'm sadly on the 2 week clear  liquid diet
