4 days Post Op - ?? Bowel Movement
Hi Everyone - sorry to be so forward but I am 4 days post op and I have always been a person who easily constipates. My question is - I have not had a bowel movement over a week, when should I on the full fluid diet ? and should I consider taking something to help me or is there much of anything to worry about? Thanks for any advice - it is greatly appreciated .
Think of it this way....liquid in, liquid out. At this point it probably isn't that serious that you haven't had a BM considering that you haven't eaten much. If you felt you needed to take something, you could start off with something gentle like miralax, this is safe to take daily. Something like milk of magnesia is a more fast acting, can't use it as often medicine.

colace - a stool softener with senna/senekot fiber tablets. this combo was the only thing to get me moving in that period right after surgery. just dont use the senkot for more than 3-4 days as its habit forming and makes your intestines lazy. lol
also drink as much as possible of course.
diet progression is controlled by your surgeons plan, jsut follow that.
