Clear Foamies...An Oxymoron?

This gets a little graphic (if you are of a weak constitution!)

I've read about the dreaded foamies ever since I started on this board and I've never had a problem UNTIL LAST WEEK.  I'm going to fess up - last Thursday I ate something that I shouldn't have.  Then in the midst of speaking to someone, I felt the overwhelming urge to throw up.  I excused myself and went to the ladies room where I just spit and spit and spit.  It was all clear (not foamy at all).  Last night, I ate my chicken and broccoli - slowly, chewed thoroughly over 30 minutes.  Then suddenly a little while later, the same thing happened.  Just lots of spit but nothing foamie or white or anything.  

Could this be a version of foamies or are foamies simply that - foamy?

I use the word "foamies" because everyone does, but really, I think they should be called the "slimies."  It is just a lot of saliva, with a bit of clear, thicker mucus-y type stuff.  But, slimies for sure.  I've never had foamy-looking foamies.

Thanks!  I guess I ate too much or too fast for Leroy (my sleeve) last night.  He's been a little grumbly lately anyway.

People use foamies and slimies interchangeably. Me, I got the slimies. It was gross, and like you both times it was clear, slimy saliva just coming and coming. I felt like a drooling dog! Only happened twice. Once after eating baby carrots for the first time at about 4 months out and then the second time after eating too much at 10 months out. I've since learned my lesson (I hope)!

You are right.  It was gross. That 4th ounce of chicken - totally not worth it.  I was trying to get some extra protein. Back to the shakes I go!

4 oz of chicken at under 6 months out is a lot! No wonder you got the foamies! (I can't help but smiling to myself as I write this. I get wanting to be off shakes, but boy, you did over do it! )

Keep the chicken to 2 to 2.5 ounces and you'll be fine. Have your 4 oz in two meals instead of one.

How long do the "foamies" last?  Do you still have to worry about it at six months, or 12 months post-op? Thanks

Foamies can last 20 minutes or an hour. The second time I had them the episode lasted over an hour. The first time about 20 minutes.

I got my second episode at 10+ months out. I believe you can get them anytime you overfill your sleeve no matter how far out you are. Not certain about this, but the logic is sound.
