Water Aerobics question

I joined the local gym last week and have attended some water aerobic classes that are about an hour long and I love them!  Is this a good choice as far as exercise?  I have a bad knee and my hips hurt frequently, hoping the more weight I lose the better those will get.  I have tried the bike and lifting some weights (except those that hurt my knee) and those are okay but the treadmill kills my knee and hips so I try to take 15 minute breaks at work and walk around the hospital that I work at .  I really love the water aerobics though and was thinking of doing this 3 or 4 days a week (only classes available) and the other days using the bike and/or weights.  Any advice on this?

I think it's a great exercise and easy on the joints as well!  Good for you!

I don't think you could have chosen a better way to exercise!! Then again, I'm very partial to water exercising :)  You won't feel the weight on your knees or hips, but do be careful to not over extend any limbs....do with what's comfortable for you.  I can't make it on days they have the classes, so i just walk/jog back and forth the length of the pool for about 35-45 mins...keeping my arms and legs going, doing jumping jacks now and then, etc.

good luck on your new life! congrats!

I have been going a little early and walking about 15 minutes in water before class starts figured every bit helps

Water Aerobics was my number one exercise through weight loss...still is now if you don't count just being way more active.  Great caloric burn.  Great overall body workout.  Can't recommend highly enough.
