Got a little introspective on the way home today...
I had my 3 month follow-up with my surgeon today. He's happy with my progress, my BP is fine, and he said to just keep doing what I'm doing and take this time to build healthy eating and exercising habits for the rest of my life.
So on the way home I was thinking that I would have a much harder time figuring out my new stomach and its requirements, and my newly emerging body and self-image, without you all. I have no local support group, and I'm really too busy to drive an hour (or more, counting rush hour) to attend one. It would be nice to be physically present in a group of other people going through what I am, but I'm not lacking in support thanks to this message board. How hard must it be for newly sleeved people without any support group at all, because I'd be lost if left on my own!
Thank you all for being willing to share your stories and walk through this adventure with complete strangers!
I'll second that. It is so nice to have a group of people who understand the struggle of obesity, and the challenges of weight loss surgery to share the journey.
I thank all who come here to find support and share their stories.
Best wishes,
Carol

Hey I'm not sure where you are in NC but I too went to UNC for my surgery!!! I love them but it was hard for me to go to the support groups. I have however found out that Duke hold support groups that are FREE to the public and you don't have to have had surgery with them
