A Year gone by already?

I haven’t been online too much these days, because my mom passed away on Sunday October 27th, after a long and grueling battle with COPD.  I’m so thankful that she's not suffering and struggling to breath any longer but at the same time I miss her terribly and would give anything for one more day. With all the funeral arrangements and everything that I have to do, it has been so hard to think of myself and make sure I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing. There have been days where I  don't get all my protein or vitamins in, but I’m trying, one day at a time.

On another note..November 7th is coming up, which will be my ONE year surgiversary. I started this journey in March of 2012 weighing 407 lbs.  Just days before surgery in November 2012,  I was down to 359. Today I'm at 225.  It's been a hell of a year for me and I know it can only get better from here. I'm so thankful to this place and everyone in it for the support and encouragement it has given me.

Sorry this was so long, Have a great night everyone.

I am so sorry about your Mom, hang in there it does get better. My Mom died May 28, 2012 after a long illness so I know what you are feeling. It is good that they aren't suffering anymore but you will miss her terribly

. As for your wl journey, you are amazing. Keep up the good work and know that you deserve this. Your Mom will be smiling down on you.

I lost my mom back in 2009 of COPD and heart failure.  she had a 9 year battle after diagnosed.  Watching her battle with weight and how it affected her illness compelled me to take steps for my own health.  I fortunately don't have either disease.  I didn't want to develop either.  I miss my mom.  I believe that moms want what is best for their children.

I had my surgery just on august 22, 2013.  You should be so proud of your accomplishments.  I am proud for you just reading your blog.  I am enjoying my journey.

I too love this forum.  It is nice having someone to talk to that knows exactly what you are going through.

Barb - wanted to offer all my sympathy on the passing of your mother.  Other than losing a child, I think the loss of a parent hits so hard :-(  I'll bet she as really proud of you, though, and the great progress you've made.  Over 125 lbs. in one year - it's just mind-blowing, right?

(((hugs))) to you...and great job on a wonderful first year with your sleeve.

I'm so sorry about the loss of your mother.  I lost my Mom about two years ago, and I know how hard that can be.  I'll hold you in my prayers.

Congratulations on your one year surgiversary, and your excellent progress.  From 407 pounds to 225 in a year is just phenomenal.  I bet it feels great to be more healthy and mobile.  Keep up the good work.

Thank you all so much.  My mom watched me struggle with my weight my whole life and like a lot of parents, she didn't really know how to help me.  She was my biggest supporter when I decided to have WLS and she wanted to do it with me, for herself, but was already far too sick at that point. Every time I saw her, she would smile and tease how she doesn't recognize me. I know she was proud and I hope to continue to make her more proud.

My condolences to you and your whole family at the loss of your mom. She sounds like a wonderful lady and obviously she supported you in your goal. I am sure it's beyond difficult at the moment; we always want just one more day, or just one more hour, or just one more "I love you" to squeeze in there. Hang in there. One foot in front of the other (literally, as well as figuratively!) and you'll get through this. Lots of us will be thinking about you.

Congratulations on your surgiversary. It's incredible to contemplate that you've made such changes in the last year and I bet your mom is proud a*****h about your determination and your wonderful results. Keep that in mind as you go forth. And know that the people here are great folks to come and chat to, vent to, or lean on. Hugs to you today, and going forward.
