Surgery was this morning...
I didn't expect to feel terrified but I was. Sitting there waiting in the bed was the longest, quietest, scariest moments of my life. How did I get here? What was I doing? Why couldn't I do this the "normal" way?? I went through a ultra intensified super fast range of emotions while laying there. The full range.
By the time they were ready to wheel me into the OR the anesthesiologist said he was going to give me a relaxer but wouldn't put me under until we got into the OR and I was on the table. Thats the last thing I remember.
Next thing I woke up in my room hearing nurses talking. My mom and son had arrived to see how I was. Then I fell asleep.
Trying to sleep in a hospital is IMPOSSIBLE! Even with heavy narcotics. My neighbor next to me has a freaking WHOOPEE CUSHION. NOT funny! Not one bit!! And a very loud and boisterous man visiting her the entire time so far. Theres a man yelling at the end of the hall every so often. Yes, I will admit, I'm wondering what did I do to myself.... but once I'm outta here and get some sleep, I'm sure I'll be much happier. RIght now I feel like I've been hit by a truck and I'm exhausted and sweaty (its like 100 degrees in here and they still won't give me anything to drink).
One more hour until something to drink... then I'll either feel better or worse. I'll let you guys know!
Seriously, complain to a nurse. Maybe they'll move you. Good luck, hon. Get ready for those gas pains soon. Use the good meds while you've got access to them!

I swear, hospitals are not meant for healing - they wake you up every hour for something or other, there's noise and commotion going on, and all you want to do is sleep for goodness sake!
I'm with you - the longest wait of all time was to get something to drink! Fill the time if you can by walking those hallways - it'll help with the gas dissipation, plus it helps pass the time. When you get home, take naps whenever you feel like it - I did two a day for the first week! You'll be up and at 'em in no time at all!
