Thougts on baby food
I know this may seem weird but I am thinking of using baby food for my 'pureed' stage. Has anyone else tried this? With my husband out of state and my 18 year old spending more time out than in, I just feel that it would be easier to use it vs cooking and pureeing my own food..... I have my pre-op appt tomorrow so I guess I will get info there also just wanted to hear from those who have gone before me :)
I did not have a pureed stage , but was allowed to eat anything that would go thru a strainer on the full liquid stage , and I ate 3 month baby food with no chunks in it , I liked the organic chicken and gravy and the organic turkey and gravy , both had a lot of protein and the whole jar is only a few oz , I had no problems with it
I was on all foods after 2 weeks so it was not so bad , and hubby did all the cooking for the whole family and me
baby food meat is about the worst thing I have ever eaten! That is what. You will need to focus on instead of the vegetables and the baby fruit, which are way too many carbs.
i have a really old cat...so old she has to have a homemade diet. I get a wonder roast chicken an pullall the meat off the bone and purée It in my food processor with a lot of homemade chicken broth for her. I. Have licked some off my finger before and it is pretty tasty.
If I was going to have to be on puréed ,that is. Eat I would do.

Funny you should mention that because just today in my nutrition class we were talking about using baby food for the pureed stage. My nutritionist said it was fine but be prepared for it to be very bland. He suggested adding low sodium chicken broth to the chicken and things like that except no salt, of course!

I heard about others doing it and I considered it briefly. However, I decided to pass on the option.
Mostly I found the options very limited and there are very adequate alternatives in the regular food section. In the end, this isn't all that long and you'll be off to solid foods.
go for albacore tuna in a punch and grin and bear it until the phase passes.

I like the meat...used to LOVE the lamb, but no one makes it any more. every now and then I will have that small jar of chicken or ham or turkey, for a quick little protein boost. I also pureed chicken (bought already roasted from costco)...I liked that alot..added a little lite mayo to it. hubby liked it with a little buffalo dressing.
however, I found all the fruits and veggies (except sweet potato) were disgusting..bbllleecckkk. can't hurt to try them out..just buy one of each that you are interested in.
