Believe protein
I was not cleared for caffeine early on, but when I was I made wonderful cocoa/coffee shakes: 10 oz water, 1 scoop chocolate protein powder, 1 tsp. unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 tsp instant coffee, several ice cubes in the bullitt--yum! The cocoa powder only adds 10 cal or less to the shake- so rich and so worth it! 130 calories and 20 g. protein.

I thought the Pure Protein Plus® French Vanilla was great, but the chocolate came in first. I feel spoiled.
Is your surgery already scheduled or are you first preparing your mind & body so you can get into diet mode beforehand. From what I can tell, you'll likely to not have a honeymoon period - and I sure don't want disappointment to leave you feeling your plication didn't meet your needs.
