I had my VSG on 12/19/13. No complications and really no pain. I was in the hospital for two nights. Now I spend my days getting in my 80+ grams of protein and 64 oz of fluids.
Very little gas. I never needed Gas X strips.
I have six laparoscopic incisions (one extra because I had my ovaries and tube removed at the same time) which are all healing cleanly.
The worst part? Trying to get all the glue off my skin from the adhesive tape and bandaids.
Having an experienced and talented surgeon made all the difference. The problem is that he won't give me all the time off from work that I would like. I feel so "normal."
YMMV. This is my experience only, but it's far better than I anticipated.
