Constipation!!!! HELP!!!

I know that this is a popular issue with Weight loss surgery, but I drink 64 oz and possibly more a day. Why am I still constipated? Is there a scientific reason for this? Any ideas that could help with this issue?

Your vitamin supplement should have iron in it. That's a big constipater right there. I take 1 generic senekot a day and am regular.

And remember..and I mean this sincerely..never trust a fart. OMG...yes, I learned that the hard way.

I almost fell on the floor laughing at that because I learned that lesson today LOL!!!! I take a lot of iron then because my multi-vitamin and I take one for my anemia. Not trying to be rude or gross, but I actually cried while on the toilet. My husband walked in and asked if I needed help and I almost said I wanted him to yank the baby out, but I don't think I could face him again afterwards.

Calcium is also the great constipator.  Plus, you're probably not getting a lot of fiber in your diet.  I was constipated a few days ago and i drank 4 ounces of grape juice.  It did the trick within a couple hours.  A trick we used to use in the hosptial for our constipated post-partums moms was 1/2 prune juice, 1/2 orange juice and a hot cup of coffee. Don't get too far from the bathroom.

I may try the prune juice and orange juice mix because I am desperate! It's getting very painful. Thank you for your reply!

Try it hot. It's not pretty but it's actually pretty tasty and the warmth helps to encourage your bowels to let go.

My tried and true method is increase magnesium (I'm pre-op and the protein shake diet is pretty darn constipating, and my multi has iron in it which stops you right up.)  Magnesium supplements will work fine. Remember, juices are high in sugar. Coffee and orange juice may aggravate heartburn and reflux.

Miralax is my go-to when I can't go.  Lack of fiber in our diets can make us totally miserable, especially at the beginning.
