MFP Daily Nutritional Goals Settings
OK... so I know that each NUT gives different advice regarding Nutrition Goals... I manipulated MFP and I really am not sure that I have the numbers set correctly... I just want to get a feel for others' numbers, please!
DAILY NUTRITIONAL GOALS are set as:
Calories - 600
Carbs - 15% ------ 23g
Fat - 30% ----------- 20g (13g saturated)
Protein - 55% ---------- 83g
Cholesterol ---- 300mg
Sodium -------- 1200mg
Potassium ----- blank
Fiber ---- 25g
Sugars ---- 0.0
FITNESS GOALS
4 workouts per week / 40 minutes each / 7600 cal burned/week
I think it's pretty impossible to get 25 grams of fiber on only 600 calories and 23 grams of carbs, particularly if you are also getting 83 grams of protein. Keep in mind that the "standard" fiber recommendations are based on the assumption that you are eating 1800-2000 calories per day. The real recommendation is 14 grams of fiber per 1000 calories consumed. So for 600 calories per day your fiber goal should be 8 or 9 grams of fiber.
My goals are 850 calories per day (I actually don't eat over 800, but I keep it set at 850 for psychological reasons -- otherwise I start to freak out if I go over 750), 75 grams of protein, 60 grams of carbs, and 30 grams of fat. The fat/protein/carb numbers are a little off on MFP since the tools are too crude to get them exactly where I want them, but those are the numbers I was given by my program and the MFP numbers are pretty close. The only other two things I track are calcium (since I prefer to get mine from food, not supplements) and fiber. My fiber goal is 10, even though that's a little low per recommendations. I am not having any issues that would make me think I need more and I struggle to get in 10 some days, so I am leaving it where it is.
Here are mine
Calories - 800
Carbs - 15% ------ 30g
Fat - 30% ----------- 27g (17g saturated)
Protein - 55% ---------- 110g
Fiber ---- 17.2g

MFP seems to resist bariactric friendly numbers. You can get a couple of them right on then the third will go haywire.
Eventually I decided the tweaks weren't worth the effort and started using it just for tracking. I know what the targets are and just ignore MFP's recommendations.
