Protein VS green vegs

HI EVERYONE- Hope VSG veterans can advise me.  I am seven weeks out from my surgery and I can eat about 3 oz of dense protein at lunch or dinner - but there almost never seems to be room for a green vegetable after.  My doc says I should eat protein first, then green vegs at this point, but after 3 oz of fish or meat I can almost never eat vegetables (which I love and miss) b/c the protein fills me up.

Should I just be patient or should I wait 20-30 minutes and then eat some vegs?

At 15 months post op I still can't eat more than you can now. I eat green veggies as a snack, which I try to evenly space between meals.

I eat protein and become full. I don't eat many veggies now. Some veggies are high in carbs so I avoid those.

the protein is much more important you get most of your nutrients from supplements now and in the future you will be able to eat salad and low carb veggies and fruit like blueberries

your meals and snacks  should be around 4 hours apart  20 minutes is to soon  your stomach should still be full on protein

the healthy veggies will come with time.  I was probably 4 or 5 months out before I could eat 3 ounces of protein and have room for veggies.  I am 7 months post-op now, and I can eat 3 ounces of protein and a small serving of veggie. I remember how nice it was to have a little variety with my meals again.

Yes, just give it time.

best wishes,

Carol

I am 13 months out and for the most part all I ever eat is 3 to 3.5 oz of protein at each meal.  I may occasionally eat a bite or two of vegetables at night but I am actually fine without.  I use my multi vitamin to make up any nutrients that I am missing.  If I get constipated, then I will take a laxative but I do pretty okay in this area with out it.  It is has just become a way of life for me.

At 7 weeks post op, I didn't attempt any veggies after my protein simply because there was no room in the inn, so to speak.

Now, at 6 months out, I definitely have room for veggies after my protein.

Like Carol said above, have patience.  You will have room for them eventually.

I'm also 7 weeks out, and I don't have room for veggies at this point either. I just focus on the protein. I did stop a little earlier last week on some protein to have a bite of broccoli so I could just taste it, but I didn't "have room" after finishing. I made room by skipping a little of my dense protein.
