Swimming is also my favorite exercise! I am preop but my surgeon already sent me info on postop activities and his info stated swimming can begin in week 3. I am sure that is if no complications, wound healing issues etc and how your tolerating exercise in general. Hope it helps.

My docotr also told me I could swim at my two week follow up, and I did.  I do that, gentle yoga or the stationary bike for my workouts.

I love to swim! I probably swim 4-5 days a week, but I didn't start until I switched to a gym that has a pool about 7 weeks after surgery.

My doctor had me wait until all the incisions were healed to prevent infection. I started walking and doing the stationary bike before I was allowed to swim.

My doc made me wait 6 weeks due to I was wanting ti swim in public pool(ywca). He wanted to make sure my incisions were closed to prevent infections.

they need to be completely healed , the slightest opening even a pin hole can let germs in

I was cleared for water therapy at six weeks.  They wanted to make sure I wouldn't have problems with abdominal pain while in the water.
