Are there any weird things you wish you had done before surgery?  Or things you did do before that you're glad you did?

Not things like shakes or vitamins, but things like, "I really wish I had cut my toenails prior to surgery!"

I wish I had shaved my legs before surgery. I hadn't shaved for a couple weeks because I always wore pants to work, and at first I was kind of embarrassed to wear the gown because of my hairy legs. I got over that soon though.

Ooh, that's a good one. I slack on leg shaving during the winter so I should totally shave my legs right before surgery!  And get a bottle of draino ;)

My surgeon was kind of cute too so I was like . Oh well I guess he's seen it all.

On another note, I did get a pedicure about a week pre op so I was glad that at least my feet looked pretty.

I get "honeymoon" ready before surgery.  I know I'll feel better post up with smooth legs, pretty toes, etc.  Also, since I'm an OR nurse, I am typically having surgery in my department.  We're all professionals, but with the sedation before they knock you out, it feels a little bit like getting blackout drunk and naked at the company Christmas party (to me, at least.)
