Messed up woman cycle

Since surgery, my periods have been all over the place.   At just about 12 months out now, they seem to have settled into a pattern of  skip a month, then 2 periods the next month... repeat.

My GYN prescribed 10 days per month of progesterone pills.   That started on January 20th, I havent had a period ever since.

I've also lost all complete desire for sex.    I'm 43.

Anyone else have this?  I'm just not sure if this is weight loss related, menopause related, or something else.  My GYN just said to keep up the progesterone pills, but he sounded just as baffled.

I would get a second opinion. Maybe another dr has insight on a more hormonal lay balanced solution so you don't lose your sex drive

I'm only 2.5 months out, so I don't have as much history to go on.  But my cycle is completely off.  I didn't get my period for 2 months, now I'm on week 2 of it.  I think the weight loss has a big part of it.

I know when I have been on birth control in the past I have skipped periods for months on ends, so I don't think that is too strange from your new prescription.  I'm not sure about the lack of sex drive.  I would definitely bring it up with your GYN.

It could definitely be weight loss related.  Fat stores estrogen, and when you lose fat, the estrogen is released, making you 'over-estrogenated'.  That wild ride in hormone levels will mess up your cycle.  Hormone levels will mess up your desire for sex as well.

I've been menopausal for about 5 years, but a week after surgery I had a full-blown period that lasted for 10 days!  Weirdest ever.  I actually had to buy products.  We'll see if I get another period or not.  My RN said that it was due to the stress of surgery and not uncommon.
