2 Weeks Pre-op
Well, here I am 2 weeks before my scheduled surgery (3-17-14). I have two more appts to go so I am so nervous something will go wrong, but I'm keeping the faith... I started my liquid pre-op diet on Monday. I did well until this evening when we went to Red Lobster for my mother's birthday. Got off track but will be back on track tomorrow, with no more dinner outings allowed I had lost 3.5lbs in the first two days so that was motivating, but I have so much to lose. I am so disappointed at times that I let myself get this overweight. My energy is gone and my self esteem is in the toilet. I need this surgery as a last option for helping me be the healthy, happy person that I know is inside. I understand that the WLS is only a tool, and that I have as much work to do on the inside as the outside... and that's why I found you guys- for support and encouragement all the way!
I'm also 2 weeks pre op, my surgery is scheduled for the 18th, AND I also started my liquid diet on Monday. I've been pretty "good" but I feel like all I'm thinking about is food. My stomach seems to be constantly rumbling, even right after I've had a shake I just have to keep reminding myself that it will be worth it - but man do I want to have a slice of pizza and some Chinese food before the 18th!
Good luck!

Everyone is different, but I avoided restaurants for the first few months post op. It wasn't so much that I was worried about being tempted, it was more that I wanted to find my comfort zone for food ..what I could tolerate and keep down and how much 1-2oz was. Also, for people who didn't know about the surgery, eating that small of amount of food is kind of distressing to them so I just avoided the weirdness LOL
I'm going to go nowhere near a restaurant for quite awhile. I can't think of anything much more boring than being out with a group just to watch them eat while I indulge in a glass of water or sneak in a shake. My husband and I frequently go out to dinner with friends and they all know what I'm doing. I told them if they want to come to our house, I'll be happy to order something in for them, but I don't want to be in a nice restaurant when I discover I just ate something that i can't tolerate. You were brave going out to eat with your family. Just get back on that horse tomorrow!

I'm also avoiding restaurants - both during my pre-op and post-op until I know I can eat the food they have. I'm not even cooking for my family until I'm on to pureed foods!
My family picked up Five Guys for dinner last night and the smell of french fries was such a torment. (In their defense, they ate in different rooms and threw the trash away immediately to keep the smells down for my comfort, so I'm not angry at them or anything... I just love smells.)
