Question for vets abou****er after food

Hello all- I know we are supposed to wait at least 30 minutes after eating before we drink water, and I do.But getting in water has always been hard for me, so once 30 minutes have passed I usually start drinking. However, after a dense protein meal I often feel like that food is still in my stomach at 30 minutes, and I like to keep that full feeling.  If I wait longer I start coming up on my next meal or snack.

So what's more important, keeping the full sleeve feeling or getting the water in?

Thanks,

Dee

Well I'm not a vet, but I know when I eat really dense food, I do have to wait longer to drink.  Sometimes I give it an hour.

When I workout I am able to get a bunch of liquids down, so that helps me exceed my water goals despite waiting longer sometimes.

Wait an hour before drinking or at least 45 min.  Drink the rest of the time.  Early out, I would have a water bottle next to me all day long and I would sip, sip, sip without end.

Read up on the Pyloric valve and function.

Sounds like you don't need snacks.

Even at 2 years + out from surgery, I tend to wait an hour after eating before I drink anything. Sure now I can get plenty of water in in between meals, but early out I was never ever without a water bottle. I stopped drinking for 15 minutes prior to eating and then waited an hour after. So for 3 hours and 45 minutes a day I did not drink. At all other times I was sipping. Seriously, I felt like all I did was drink, but I stayed hydrated and had no problems.

I've seen what dehydration can do to WLS patients. It's down right terrifying. Get your water in!
