A REAL pain in the a** - TMI alert

I have to vent to you all because you're my family.. lol.  I am MORTIFIED.  I was having some pain on Saturday, Sunday it was better, yesterday was worse and today... I went to the doctor.  OMG.  I have a thrombosed hemmorhoid.  I'm completely embarassed... but oh well, I guess I got over it, because I had to go to a surgeon's office to get it lanced!  Have any of you had one of these?  The surgeon wanted to give me medication that was a steroid, but I know I'm not allowed to take it.. so what CAN I take to help this pain go away. :(  I feel like such a loser today.  Not only did a nurse have to hold my a$$ cheek in the air, the surgeon told her to hold it higher so he could get to it.  OMG, talk about being embarassed.  I just want to cry.  :(

:(  Ouch!

Don't be embarrassed - those docs look at butts every day and they chose their field of care!

An anti-inflammatory would work best to make the swelling reduce.  Ask for a topical cream for your bum and take oral Tylenol too.  I've also heard that some can tolerate advil - call your VSG surgeon/clinic and ask what you could take.

I have a few thrombosed hemi's left from pregnancy (11 pound baby - vaginal delivery) but they don't hurt enough for me to go to the colorectal surgeon about.  I am in denial!

why can't you take a steroid, one of the reasons I picked the vsg was so I could take them < i was told to wait 1 month after surgery , and I take ibuprofen all the time since after 1 month for pain and swelling

Some clinics make VSGers follow RNY rules.  that may be part of it.

But RNYers can take steroids.. it's just NSAIDS that are an issue.

I've been dealing with MEGA hemorrhoids lately (and I can't spell that word to save my life, LOL) and possibly a fissure. Not  surprised that they showed up after 2 weeks of mega constipation, but seriously, OWWWWW! The worst part is having them wake you up at night, that royally SUCKS.

Sitz baths help a bit, or just sitting in a bathtub filled with a few inches of warm water for 15 minutes or so. I feel like a doofus locking myself in the bathroom, my husband probably wonders what the heck I'm doing in there, but it does help. I've also found a cream that has 5% lidocaine that numbs things up a bit, that really does help.

Don't be embarrassed. .it's more common than you think. And extremely painful,  too. .take some of your left over pain RX if you have any. I'm 5 months out and have had some issues even though I stay hydrated and use a stool softener.  It seems like lately I need to use some Fleet every few weeks to really expel instead of this here, there and oops I just shat myself business LOL

Hang in there!

This isn't anything rare nor weird, it's not a character flaw.....it's good you went in to get it checked. They are painful, and especially when you don't know what's going on. It's humiliating, perhaps but if you think about it, you took care of yourself. Would you have done that in the past?

I say: GO YOU!!!!!!!

I am also very modest and that would have been a traumatizing experience for me as well!!! I'm glad you got it fixed though! Will they give you a small amount of narcotics like oxycodone?
