3 weeks out and hungry
Hi. I'm over 3 weeks out and my hunger keeps increasing. I'm on double my acid med and it isn't that. Isn't head hunger either. Happens bad 3 hours after I eat-sooner after a protein shake. Hunger increased when I started walking again. I'm getting 70+ounces of water, 60+grams protein, 20g carbs. I'm worried this will keep getting worse-and I'm already at 600 calories. Only 3 weeks out, I don't have a lot of room to increase that and stay under 800. I don't over-eat. I've stayed at about 1/2 cup. Maybe a tiny bit more now.

Calories come from 3 sources - protein, carbs, and fat. If your carbs are less than 20 g, and protein is close to 60 g, then I'd say your fat content may be just a tad higher than you would want if you want to stay within 600-800 calories per day. I'm not saying you should be fat free, but making sure your food choices follow the 1 gram of protein for every 10 calories rule helps me stay within my caloric budget. That said, as far as your hunger, depending on your food stage, it might be just temporary. I was experiencing some acid problems at 3 weeks out that made me feel like I was hungry, but also, the soft food was easy to digest and it didn't keep me that full. Once I got to solids, I really started to feel my restriction.
You're still pretty early out so take some of what I say with a grain of salt. It would be hard right now to increase your water and protein but eventually you should shoot for 80 oz. of protein (I'm hoping you do 3 meals and 2 snacks) and at least 80 oz. of water. That will help a bit.
The acid med you are taking may not be working. Frankly, I had to try 3 or 4 before we hit on one that actually worked. I take a prescription strength PPI called Protonix and I still get some break-through acid during the day that I calm down with Tums.
