Can I have pudding?

A co-worker who has been very supportive of my process stopped by and said his mother is coming in from Azerbaijan and was planning to make him his favorite pistachio pudding.  He knows I'm really into local comfort foods, so he really wants me to try his mom's "from scratch" recipe.  

That's the question he asked me:  "Can you have any pudding?"

My sarcastic response, which is even funnier given our "rules", was "Only if I've eaten my meat!  How can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat?!?"

Given english isn't his first language and he was trying to be nice, he was a little confused when I told him to "Stand still laddie!"  I then had to pull up Pink Floyd's wikipedia page and play him "Another Brick in the Wall" before he got it. 

Sadly though, I'm going to have to decline the pudding.  But he is bringing me some lovely tagine roasted goat Monday...

Love it! Reminds me of how once when the power went out at work in an office with no windows, I pulled up a picture of a lighter on my phone, waved it in the air, and yelled "FREEBIRD!" My boss, who was from China, didn't get it. Totally had to explain that one.

My normal response to that sort of thing is, "Oh that's too sweet, you're so kind for offering! I can't have any, but please thank your mother for thinking of me."

SUPER jealous of the tajine! I haven't had Moroccan food since I moved out of Portland, but I remember having one with lamb, egg, and plums that was AMAZING. Yummy!

Priceless! How many times does someone just walk barefaced into the perfect quote opportunity like that!  If it had happened to me I would have remembered the line about a week later (despite my ever loving favorite band PF).
