What were you eating????

What do you, or were you eating at 3-4 weeks out?  My surgeon has 3 stages of food.  Stage one was liquids from day 1-7.  Stage 2 is soft foods(yogurt, cottage cheese), light cheese, eggs, deli ham and turkey, can chicken, etc.  this stage is from day 7 until week 6.  Then at week six all foods are "permitted" but it's recommended to eat high protein, low cal, low carb, low fat which I fully intend to continue to get the best results. I am just wondering what others are eating?!

Your plan sounds just like mine...tomorrow I'll be 4 weeks out & can incorporate more veggies & different meats besides canned chicken & flaky fish but eat protein first.  Not all foods are permitted on my plan.  My Dr. specifically wants me to not go over 50 carbs. a day & continue with high protein, low cal, low fat, low/no sugar, no carbonated beverages & low/no caffeine.  May seem kinda harsh but I don't see it as dieting I see it as finally eating healthy for life.  I've never felt better in my life that I can remember...all the other times I lost weight when I was younger I was starving myself.  Good luck to you.

I think I misspoke... I too cannot have carbonated drinks, etc per plan.  I have already put that in my mind so I didn't really even think of it!  I think that's a good sign?!  I now think of normal foods as things that are allowed that weren't on stage 2!  Hehe

Weeks 3-4 for me are pureed foods.  I've basically been making dinners for my family that are easy to puree, and eating the protein parts of those.  Tonight I'll be pureeing meatballs.  Chicken curry pureed really well too!

I have been reading about how some programs incorporate puréed foods.  And I am wondering why others don't.  I personally think a meatball( even puréed) sounds a ton better than egg salad or a cheese stick :). Hehe

It is totally weird how much variance there is in the plans we get.  And a bit frustrating.  I'm certainly glad that I didn't have to do clear liquids for any amount of time post-op, though!

Uugh. Tell me about it.  Mine wanted me to do clear liquids for the first 5 days after (understandable. I didn't want much else anyway).  But they want me to do protein drinks for ANOTHER 12 DAYS.

Don't tell anyone but I've already moved to cottage cheese and yogurt since protein drinks now make me want to gag.  I have the benefit of (1) seeing what others are required to do so I don't feel bad about "cheating" since its obvi ok if others are doing it; (2) have the benefit of having done this before since mine was a revision.  I'm not really hungry but was finding it hard to choke down enough protein drinks to meet the recommendation.

Down with protein drinks!  Just kidding...sort of.
