Detox needed

Ok I am reaching out here to help me get thru a much needed detox.  I have been eating way too much sugar. It started with a little here and a little there - no big deal right? Wrong!  Next thing you know the cravings are out of control.  Lessened learned - the hard way.  I have been battling binge eating for over 10 years so I know I am vulnerable to a relapse.  I understand what happened and am working thru the emotional triggers.  But the physical cravings have to be dealt with now.  My plan for tomorrow is to to have my protein shakes for breakfast and lunch. I am having chicken and green beans for dinner.  I will be drinking lots of water.  I need to check in here many times tomorrow to have accountability.  I know I can do this.  Thank you to everyone on this site especially the veterans - I have learned and continue to learn from the posts here.  I appreciate the support.

As a fellow binger and sugar addict I can relate to what you are going through.  I will make a couple suggestions here for detoxing and battling sugar withdrawal.  Follow this plan for at least 3-4 days:

1.  Make sure to eat 5-6 times per day, every 3 hours if you can -- because you have woken up the carb monster you WILL feel hunger!

2.  Rather than shakes, which aren't going to satisfy you much at this point in time, focus on lean protein and veggies at every meal/snack, some raw ones if you are far enough out (sorry, I didn't look before I started replying).

3.  Up your water to 80-100 oz. if you aren't already doing it.

4.  If you haven't already looked into Overeater's Anonymous as another tool for your tool belt in fighting the disease of obesity, I strongly encourage you to do so (www.oa.org).  It has been invaluable to me in dealing with my eating disorder in addition to therapy, the surgery, etc.

Best of luck to you over the next few days - let us know how it goes!

Thank you everyone for the support and encouragement.  I have done well today!  I have stuck to my plan and I feel good.  Evenings can be difficult so I plan to go to bed at 10 even if I read for a while in bed.  This will keep the temptation to snack at bay.  I will let you know how it goes.
