Time to put the scale away - NSV

Pulled my scale out of the closet - just to see if I might get a response other than 'err'

I have dropped enough in my pre-op to weigh myself at home for the first time in years. Then, I weighed about 8 times in the last 2 days. Scale's gotta go back into the closet. I can't get caught up in the daily fluctuations. Post op I'm going to rely on NSV, clothing changes, and monthly weigh in's at the dr's office.

Not until I get to maintiance am I'm going to start a weekly tracker to hold myself accountable and help avoid regain.

If you haven't checked it out already, I highly recommend a site called trendweight.  It has really helped me to detach from the daily number and the daily fluctuations and to just be able to focus on the trend of my weight loss instead.  I have an unhealthy connection to numbers and I was worried that it would spiral out of control with the scale after weight loss surgery, but trendweight has really helped me to stay in a healthy frame of mind.  I can't recommend it enough.

Haven't heard of it yet - I"ll certainly check it out. I have some mild OCD w/numbers too (not to put words in your mouth) that tracking weight loss/bmi/etc.. which my mind would think of as fun and helpful but could turn into the opposite.

Oh I totally hear you.  I majored in Math in college and I get completely wrapped up in them.  But TrendWeight really has saved me.  It lets me focus on the important thing and not the specific numbers.  I was worried, pre-op, that I'd never be able to weigh myself unless I was at the doctor!
