6 month dietician visits

I am currently in process to get surgery and as an insurance requirement have to do these dietician visits monthly.  I am curious what any of your experiences have been with a dietician/what was the point?  I feel like I am not getting much out of these visits.  I mean if I could lose the weight on my own I wouldn't be there in the first place.

It's just required by some insurance, and if it is?  There is no way around it.  It is about getting the documentation done.  We talked about lifetime principles and the habits to start working on each month.

I wish I could have skipped it, but all in all, it worked out just fine.  My insurance changed with a cross country move, and it took even longer because of finding a new doctor.

The six months does go by quickly.  I promise.

Thanks Emmy.  I know I should look at it as only 6 months.

I really kicked and screamed about these visits; however, now at month four, I am thankful.  I'm not quite sure it should take six months, but that's what the insurance requires,  so it's my only option.

The upside for me bc of this six month diet have been: I drink lots more water than I used to, I have quit my night time snacking, my sugar cravings have drastically decreased, more importantly,  for me I went through a grieving of sorts over food.  I cannot imagine trying to deal with everything at once right after surgery.  And I'm down 17 pounds! Good luck to you!

That's a really good way to look at it!  To ease into the new lifestyle.  My six months is over mid June!

Our journeys are close together.  I should be done with my visits in July.  My bariatric doctor said my surgery date will probably be in August.

Yes, they are very close!  I'll let you know when my date is when i get it.  Maybe we could be 'surgery buddies'?

I did 6 months medically supervised diet...that i did with my Primary Care Physician...I had to get on a 1200 low carb diet...log ALL my foods for the 6 months and I also had to track my exercises. This is what was asked by my insurance as part of the "approval" process...
