Surgery tomorrow
Tomorrow is my surgery date. I guess I'm a late starter because today I have been officially moarning the food I can not eat anymore. Why did this take so long to kick in? Since February I have been eating the way my NUT suggested (basically low carb) but have not had a problem with it till today. My doc only requires one day of clear liquids and so far I haven't had any problems with that. But my mind is going crazy about food. I'm so stressed right now. Just thought I should vent
Good luck!! I only had one day of clear liquids as well, and I was SO thankful!
Keep us posted! You'll do great, I'm sure!

Maybe because it's suddenly becoming real?
Maybe look up stories of people many years post op and seeing how either (a) they could eat their old favourites (but smaller portions) and/or (b) they don't place as high a value on food as they once did.

And reality rears its ugly head.
Very normal. You feel like you're on death row and you're not even getting your last meal. I figured that I've eaten enough "last meals" to last me a lifetime.
Just think about all the positive things coming your way and try to wrap your mind around the fact that food is now just fuel for your body, not a romance, friend, comforter or enemy. Best of luck tomorrow and let us know how you're doing.

Your normal!! You will be just fine. You will probably be wondering afterwards what you were so worried about. Don't be surprised if have moments when you wonder what you have done (but they are very short and fleeting) and once you are able to start eating food and not living on liquids it gets sooo much better. I had 3 weeks of liquids. It was supposed to be 4 weeks but they told me if I have to eat something then I could do some pureed foods. Your going to do great! Keep us posted when you can.
