Acid reducers

I was prescribed Zantac for 90 days post surgery to be taken once a day.  I am 60 days out now.  I forgot to take it this morning and I am very uncomfortable.  What are the odds that after 90 days I won't need it any more?  Anyone taking acid reducers long term?

I was told that most people need to take it long term.

I was prescribed protonix for 60 days but my doctors have decided I need it long term and twice a day if needed I think everyone is different some may not need it and some do. I find if I do not take it I am extremely uncomfortable with terrible reflux...dawn

I have been on Nexium since I had VSG (over a year).  My doctor told me to stop taking it to see if I needed it anymore.  I stopped but by day 3 I was feeling uncomfortable and by day 4 I had to start taking the pill again.  So I guess I'm one of the ones that will have to take it for the long term.

My doc didn't prescribe anything.  I am 3 weeks out and feel like I have a burning in my throat most of the time. Guess I need to ask for a prescription for something when I go in for my 1 month follow up.

Don't wait!  You can get prilosec over the counter and that might help for the next week.
