Hi all, I am 9 weeks post op and have only lost 36 pounds, I walk every other day and really watch my carb intake....can I get some suggestions for losing more weight? I hit a plateau and was stuck at a 30 pound loss for 3 weeks! I am pretty sure I am doing what I should be doing....feeling so frustrated!!! Thank you for ANY input! Plus I am extremely constipated....Maybe not enough water intake? I don't know :-(

My doctor put me on Miralax everyday for constipation. If you're not going, the scale won't move :((  walmart carries a generic of it and you mix the powder in whatever you are drinking. It seems to work better when I mix it with my hot decaf coffee. It will take a couple of days to start working, and you can take it up to twice a day.

Only 36 pounds?! You're averaging 4 pounds a week!  That's awesome!  What rate of loss did you expect?

I second the advice of miralax. When I've been constipated I add a dose to my morning shake until the constipation passes. Works like a charm!

I guess I was expecting to  have lost more by now, my friends who have had it lost a lot more in the first few months than I am....but I know everyone is different...thank you for the Miralax advice!

Try really hard not to compare yourself to other people, I know it's hard, but that way lies madness.

How bad does Miralax  taste and how long does it take to work?

Op, I don't know where you started but seriously, when in your life have you ever lost 4-lbs a week?  I'm a lightweight. I started at 229 and I lost 30-lbs in the first 2 months but only 7-lbs in the next 2 months.  I'm in the 5th month now and seeing the scale move a little better but I don't expect to keep losing at the 1st-2nd month rate.

Don't be discouraged. Just hang in there and follow your surgeon's directions. If you are logging your food, drinking your water and getting your protein in you'll be in good shape. No more than you're eating there's NO WAY you can fail to lose weight.

I add it to my protein shake and it doesn't taste at all. Awesome stuff. The bottle says it works within 2-3 days and it's normally about 1.5 for me.

Oh,good. I was afraid it might catch up with me at work. I'm a nurse who does home visits and the last thing I need is a poop to sneak up on me.

For me, and it might be different for others, it induces a natural poop not an "OMG I NEED A BATHROOM RIGHT NOW" poop.  For what it's worth.  :)

I'm over 2 years post surgery and I still have 10 lbs to lose to get to my personal goal.

Compare yourself to me and you'll be the pretty friend.
